Summer has arrived in Agoura Hills, and while the sunshine may be welcome, it also brings serious challenges for animal rescues like ours. At Eastwood Ranch Foundation, we’ve been working since last year’s wildfire season to secure a backup generator—and now, we’re asking for your help to finally make it happen.
At Eastwood Ranch, we’ve already experienced dozens of days each summer with midday temperatures well into the 90s, often pushing past 100°F. And when those days coincide with Public Safety Power Shutoffs – which are increasingly common during fire season – we’re left without critical cooling systems, fans, water pumps, or refrigeration.
We care for sick and recovering cats and dogs rescued from high-kill shelters who are especially sensitive to heat. Without a reliable backup generator, it becomes much harder to keep them safe and comfortable during these high-risk periods. Investing in a generator isn’t just a precaution – it’s a vital step to protect the lives of animals and the safety of staff and volunteers no matter what the weather or power grid brings.
A generator isn’t just a convenience—it’s a lifeline. Here’s why:
- Climate control is critical: Our animals rely on fans and A/C to stay safe. Without power, indoor temperatures can spike quickly, placing their health at risk.
- We store vital supplies: Medications, vaccines, and food must be kept cool. A blackout could mean costly losses and compromised care.
- Security and emergency response depend on power: From surveillance to lighting and communication, we need electricity to keep our facility safe and responsive.
We’ve been working toward this goal since last year, and now we’re closer than ever. Thanks to our Double The Love campaign, every donation you make will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000—doubling your impact and helping us cross the finish line.
Your support today helps us protect the animals we love—no matter what the weather brings.
