Katie Cleary with World Animal News visited The Ranch recently to interview Alison Eastwood about her animal rescue efforts and how she built a new type of animal rescue center, where she has created a very relaxing and nurturing environment for potential adopters and rescues. You can watch the interview or read the following transcript.
Katie Cleary: Hey we’re here for World Animal News at Eastwood Ranch. I’m here with founder Allison Eastwood. It’s an incredible, beautiful facility. It’s one of the most beautiful rescues I’ve ever seen. I know it took you 6 years to do this, so explain um how this all came about.
Alison Eastwood: I had been doing rescue since 2012 and we hadn’t had our own facility. We had been working at a boarding places and fosters and all sorts of my own home. I saw this land and I had a vision yeah almost about seven or some years we bought the land and then built it from scratch and it’s just you know, it’s it’s it’s really more than I ever expected it to be. It’s it’s really great.
Katie Cleary: So I remember seeing the plans of this beautiful place what 7 years ago and you raising funding and and had all your amazing charity events and now it came to fruition. I mean just shows that if you do have an idea and you have a dream you can make it a reality especially for a greater purpose like this.
Alison Eastwood: Definitely. It’s it’s more than I ever expected and like you said it’s a dream come true.
Katie Cleary: Yeah, okay. This is the cat house.
Alison Eastwood: So this is the cat building. This is our general population. We do have an isolation area in back but we’ve got some sick kitties and stuff. This is Smokey. He’s available for adoption. He’s neutered and vaccinated and microchipped.
Katie Cleary: So amazing.
Katie Cleary: Yeah, and people can fill out an application online or contact directly.
Alison Eastwood: Applications online to Foster or to adopt and also to volunteer. Always need volunteers.
Alison Eastwood: Excellent. Stacy, my husband put up bird feeders out here so that the cats have constant stimulation and things to look at so they’re always up here chattering away.
Katie Cleary: And you’ve got several animals that need a a loving home.
Alison Eastwood: Yes, we have lots of kitties. The kittens have been you know got a lot of interest but we have some adult really lovely adult young cats that are available and couple of you know just seniors and then we have tons of dogs too. We have more coming in today. Almost every day we have more. There’s never a shortage sadly in Southern California of shelter animals and animals in need.
Katie Cleary: But the turnover seems to be pretty good here. I mean…
Alison Eastwood: It’s been pretty good, I mean we’ve only really been open for a few months but things have are working really well. I mean I think this environment is a great place to show animals as opposed to going to a chaotic hectic loud you know, shelter – it’s scary. The dogs show well here, the cats are happy there’s nature and wild life.
Katie Cleary: It’s Beautiful. Well thank you for creating this Sanctuary for Animals because we need more rescues to to do this. This is just another great alternative. It is to that. Hey, so how can people help Eastwood Ranch?
Alison Eastwood: Well we always need monetary donations and then of course we love volunteers and fosters. We always need Fosters.
Katie Cleary: Yeah, please support Eastwood Ranch and make a donation if you can and make sure to adopt not shop. Thanks so much for watching World animal news.
